Chickenpox :Chickenpox is a very contageous illness. Chickenpox is caused by a virus named varicella zoster virus (VZV).Chicken pox has an incubation period of about one to three weeks. The chickenpox infection can be easily transmitted from one person to another by direct contact on the rashes, coughing and sneezing. Symptoms of the chicken pox infection appear much later after the virus infection takes place.The very first visible symptom of chickenpox is appearance of rashes on the skin sometimes even accompanied with fever. The rashes appear to be somewhat like red blisters that create ichiness in the skin. Children are more succeptible to chickenpox especially in school children. Chicken pox can be prevented by administering chickenpox vaccine. Measles:Measles was previously known as Rubeola. Measles is called by a virus that affects the respiratory system know as Morbilliviruses. Measles is spread through respiratory passage that is basically through direct or indirect contact with nasal discharge or any sort of oral discharge as the virus can easily spread through airborne pathogens. The measles infection has an incubation period of 14 days. The visible symptoms of measles are first of all the red rashes that appear on the skin.This is associated with fever as high as 104 degrees celcius, runny nose, redness and burning sensations in the eyes and bodyache. Measles can be easily prevented by administrating MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) Vaccine. This measles is diferrent from German Measles. |
