What is DiabetesA person is said to suffer from diabetes if the glucose in blood don't move into the cells and is retained in the blood. “Glucose, which is present in blood, is produced by liver with the help of the food we eat.” The level of glucose in the body is regulated by insulin. Insulin is produced by pancreas. It is the insulin that helps absorption of blood into liver, muscle and the other areas required. If the level of insulin is not satisfactory in the body, then blood glucose is moved into the areas where it’s required. The presence of unabsorbed blood sugar results in the harmful exposure of high glucose level to other organs of the body. What are the different types of diabetes? There are broadly three types of Diabetes out of which a person can be susceptible to either one of them viz. Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body doesn't produce insulin or produces very little insulin levels to help regulate the blood sugar level. Type 2 diabetes can occur when the body is partially or completely unable to use the insulin secreted by the pancreas. Type 2 diabetes is also termed as insulin resistance due to which the body tries to overcome glucose deficiency by secreting more and more insulin. Gestational diabetes is the third type of diabetes. Overweight pregnant women are susceptible to gestational diabetes as this type of diabetes has great chances of occurrence during the second trimester of pregnancy.
